(a) What is a river basin?

Ans:- A river drainage basin is the area drained by a river and all of its tributaries. A river basin is made up of many different watersheds. A watershed is a smaller version of a river basin.

(b) What is ‘White Revolution’?

Ans:- White Revolution is the 'Operation Flood' program run by the Government of India.

(c) What is ‘red collar worker’?

Ans:- People engaged in primary activities are called red collar workers because of the outdoor nature of their work.

(d) What do you mean by barter system?

Ans:- Barter is an alternative method of trade where goods and services are directly exchanged for each other without using money as an intermediary.

(a) Name two sub-fields of Human Geography.

Ans:- Two sub-fields of human geography are cultural geography, economic geography.

(b) Give two examples of tertiary activities.

Ans:- Tertiary activity does not produce goods, but supports the production process. For example: transport, communication, banking, storage, and trade.

(c) What are the two types of water transport?

Ans:- Water transport is mainly divided into two parts – inland waterways and sea routes.

(d) Name two types of international trade.

Ans:- There are two types of international trade:

(i) Bilateral trade It takes place between two countries when they enter into an agreement to trade in a commodity in which they are specialized.

(ii) Multilateral trade It is carried on at the same time with several trading countries on goods in which the countries are specific.

(e) Name two peaks of Karbi Plateau.

Ans:- The two peaks of the Karbi plateau are Dumbakchu and Singhasan.
