Ans: Abiotic components or non-living components.

(b) Mention any one of the four segments of environment.

Ans: Atmosphere.

(c) Give an example of artificial ecosystem.

Ans: These ecosystems are created by humans. For example – crop land ecosystem, fisheries etc.

(d) In natural ecosystem, bacteria and fungus have been considered as which type of consumers?

Ans: decomposers.

(e) Name the main gas which causes ozone layer depletion

Ans: Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs).

(f) Mention one major mine disaster occurred in India.

Ans: Chasnala mining disaster.

(g) Write the name of one renewable energy resource.

Ans: solar energy.

(h) Mention the shape of the cautionary road signs as per the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.

Ans: Cautionary signs are triangular in shape with red border.

2. Fill in the blanks (any three): 1x3=3

(a) 71% percent of the earth's surface is covered by water bodies.

(b) 21% percent of oxygen is found in the earth's atmosphere.

(c) Bears is one type of omnivorous animal.

(d) The Disaster Management Act was adopted by the Government of India in the year 23rd December 2005.

(e) To protect environment, the Government of India passed the Environment Protection Act in the year 1986.

3. Write short notes on (any five): 2×5=10

(a) Assam State Disaster Response Force.

Ans: State Disaster Response Force Assam or SDRF Assam is a special force established on 15 December 2011 with the objective of conducting rescue and relief operations in a prompt and effective manner during any natural and man-made disaster. It is headed by Special Director General of Police Satyendra Narayan Singh (IPS) and is headquartered in Guwahati, Assam.

(b) Need of wearing helmet by the bikers and riders.

Ans: Anyone who decides to ride a bicycle or motorcycle should consider that wearing a helmet is the most effective strategy for preventing injuries caused by a crash or fall. It is quite clear that there is a great risk of a rider crashing or falling, no matter how knowledgeable and alert the rider is.
