(e) Individuals having IQ below 25 are known as idiots. (Write True or False)

(f) “Teacher is like the candle which lights others in consuming itself.” Who said this statement?

Ans:- S. Radhakrishnan.

(g) What does ‘psyche’ mean?

Ans:- Psyche means 'soul' and 'Logos' means 'science'. Thus, psychology was first defined as the 'science of the soul'. Psychology is the science of the soul.

(h) Who is the father of educational psychology?

Ans:- Edward Lee Thorndike.

(i) Write the instinct related to appetite emotion.

Ans:- Appetite refers to a person's desire to eat specific foods to reach a state of satisfaction and pleasure. This desire may be associated with the experience of negative or positive emotions (emotional appetite).

There is no room for appetite outside instinct – appetite should appear only as an impulse related to instinct – and accepting the normal appetite for pleasure would mean accepting that emotion can come first.

(j) In which year was the Assam Primary Education Act passed?

2. Answer the following questions:      2x12=24

(a) What is vocational aim of education?

Ans:- The objective of vocational education is to make the individual suitable for future career and to guide him to earn career and livelihood in future life. The process of education enables a person to earn his livelihood, so that he can be useful in the society and live a productive life.

(b) Write any two differences between formal and non-formal education.

Ans:- Formal Education:-

(i) Formal education is organized for teaching.

(ii) Formal school is a full-time institution.

Non-formal Education: -

(i) Informal education is organized for learning by oneself or by a group.

(ii) Informal education is part-time.

(c) Write any two psycho-physical characteristics of infancy.

Ans:- There are two psycho-physical characteristics of infancy:-

(i) Need for emotional security.

(ii) Satisfying security requirements.

(d) Write any two professional qualities of a teacher.

Ans:- (i) Skill in asking questions.

(ii) Mastery over the subject matter.

(e) What is stimulus?

Ans:- A stimulus is an event or change in the external environment that produces a specific functional response in an organ or tissue. Stimulation can be internal or external. Sense organs, such as the ears, and sensory receptors, such as those present in the skin, are sensitive to external stimuli such as sound and touch.

(f) Write any two defects of existing curriculum.

Ans:- The Mudaliar Commission 1952–53 identified several defects in the secondary education system in India. These include lack of uniformity in standards, excessive emphasis on examinations, inadequate training for teachers and inadequate infrastructure. The Commission recommended measures to address these issues and improve the quality of secondary education in the country.

(g) Write two characteristics of habit.

Ans:- Habits have the following characteristics:-

(i) Uniformity or Uniformity Practice brings uniformity in individual activities. There is a definite pattern in the way we talk, sleep, walk and other activities.

(ii) Facility or location: If it is due to a particular practice then there is a center to perform the work. At first it is difficult to ride a bicycle but once you get used to it it becomes very easy.

(h) Write a brief note on monitorial system.

Ans:- A practical and economical system of education known as the "Monitor System" or "Prefect System" was long prevalent in the large indigenous schools of India. The basic feature of this system was that senior students were appointed to teach junior students.
