(a) What is Trans-Siberian Railway?        1

Ans:- The Trans-Siberian Railway runs from Saint Petersburg in the west to Vladivostok on the Pacific coast in the east. This is the most important route of Asia.

(b) What do you understand by Population Doubling Time? 1

Ans:- In the context of population growth, doubling time refers to the time it takes for the population to double. It can also be estimated at the world population and country level.

(c) What is the present name of erstwhile ‘Rajasthan Canal’?  1

Ans:- Gandhi Canal.

(d) Which type of pollution causes acid rain?      1

Ans:- Acid rain is caused by the release of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides into the atmosphere, where they react with water, oxygen, and other chemicals to become sulfuric and nitric acids, respectively.

(a) How is human geography related to other social science?     2

Ans:- Human geography provides major discussions about human life and its dimensions. It includes everything that explains how humans live their lives on Earth. While other social sciences also discuss about the possible life that humans can spend on this earth.

(b) How do you calculate the density of population in a region?   2

Ans:- Population density is the ratio between the number of people and the size of land. It is usually measured in persons per square kilometer. For example, area population density is calculated by dividing 150,000 by 100. The population density is equal to 1,500 persons/km².

(c) What do you understand by Co-operative Farming?  2

Ans:- Cooperative farming refers to agricultural practices that are operated jointly by individuals with other farmers and agencies on their land holdings and resources. The agencies create a collection to purchase fertilizers, seeds, farm equipment and other agricultural inputs on behalf of farmers.

(d) What is Quaternary activity?     2

Ans:- Quaternary activities are knowledge oriented. These include collection, production and dissemination of information. They focus on research, development and can be seen as advanced forms of services involving specialized knowledge and technical skills. Concept: Types of tertiary activities.

(e) What do you understand by Traffic flow?        2

Ans:- This refers to traffic on roads that has increased dramatically in recent years. As the road network cannot cope with traffic demands, congestion occurs.
