(i) Write the formula of Cephalic Index.

Ans:- A gene is a segment of DNA that provides instructions for a specific trait and is found on a chromosome.

(iii) Who discovered ABO blood group?

Ans:- Karl Landsteiner discovered the ABO blood group system.

(iv) What is the typical tool of Oldowan culture?

Ans:- The characteristic tool of the Oldowan culture is the pebble tool.

(v) 'Which African ethnic group is known as 'African Pigmy'?

Ans:- The Mbuti ethnic group is known as the 'African Pygmies'.

(vi) In which tribal group 'Buliang' is an important social institution?

(i) What do you mean by enzyme?

Ans:- Enzymes are naturally occurring proteins that act as biological catalysts, accelerating chemical reactions in living organisms without being consumed themselves. The term 'enzyme' was first used by Friedrich Wilhelm Kühne in 1878.

(ii) What is heredity? Who discovered heredity?

Ans:- Heredity is the tendency or process by which genetic characteristics of parents are transmitted to their offspring. Gregor Mendel discovered the laws of heredity through his experiments on pea plants.

(iii) What is epicanthic fold? In which major race it is frequently observed?

Ans:- An epicanthic fold is a fold of skin of the upper eyelid that covers the inner corner (medial canthus) of the eye. It is frequently observed in the Mongoloid major race.

(iv) Explain Mendel's law of dominance.

Ans:- Mendel's Law of Dominance states that in a heterozygote, the dominant allele masks the expression of the recessive allele, so only the dominant trait is visible in the phenotype. Both alleles are transmitted unchanged to the offspring, but the recessive trait reappears in the homozygous recessive condition.

(v) In what ways the upper palaeolithic industries were more advanced than those of previous periods?

Ans:- The Upper Palaeolithic industries showed progress with the development of blade and burin tools, bone tools (such as needles, harpoons), and pressure flaking for improved retouching. They utilized a variety of materials besides stone, reflecting the innovation of Homo sapiens around 40,000 years ago.
