(a) The word 'education' comes from the Greek/ Latin/ French language.

(c) Who is called the father of educational psychology?

Ans:- Pestalozzi.

(d) Name a ductless gland.

Ans:- Thyroid.

(e) What do you mean by instinct?

Ans:- Instincts are an organism's internal patterns of behavior. Mc-Dougall has defined it as an internal disposition which determines the organism to see any object of a certain class and to experience in its presence some excitement and an impulse to action which is characteristic of that object.

(f) Nalanda was a Centre of Vedic/ Buddhist/ Muslim education.

(g) Extroversion is a characteristic of infancy/ childhood/ adolescence period.

(h) Write one difference between psychology and educational psychology.

Ans: General psychology generally involves the perspective study of human behavior. But educational psychology covers human behavior of a particular group in the context of education.

(i) Give an example of illusion.

Ans: For example, a child who sees tree branches at night as if they were ghosts may be hallucinating.

(j) Mention one major function of cerebellum.

Ans: Maintenance of balance and posture.

(k) "Emotion is moved or stirred-up state of individual." Who said this?

Ans: Woodworm.

(l) Who recommended 'payment by result' system in primary education?

Ans: Hunter Commission 1882.

2. Answer the following questions: 2×12=24

(a) Mention two characteristics of formal education.

Ans: Following are the characteristics of formal education: -

(i) It is pre-determined and pre-planned.

(ii) It is time bound and controlled by routine.

(b) What is non-formal education?

Ans:- Non-formal education is modern and latest in concept, scope, and methodology. Integrating learning with life and work lasts a lifetime. Informal education is implemented consciously and thoughtfully in a systematic and orderly manner. Informal education is naturally a continuous process. The aim of this education is the all-round development of man.

(c) Write two characteristics of human needs.

Ans: The characteristics of human needs are as follows:

(i) Needs are unlimited: Desires are innumerable. These are never going to end. They stand up again and again. When one desire is fulfilled, another one arises. The desire keeps increasing.

(ii) Needs are recurrent in nature: Some human beings want to come again and again. Once satisfied they also arise. For example, to satisfy hunger we eat food after a certain time interval.

(d) What is hero worship?

Ans: Hero worship is defined as crass or excessive admiration for a person. For example, he objects to the mindless hero worship of great athletes by their fans.

(e) Mention two causes of Anglicists-Classicists controversy.

Ans:- There are two causes for the Anglicist-Classicist controversy: -

(i) There were disagreements and conflicts regarding the institutions that arranged and managed schools and colleges.

(ii) There were also three opinions on the best teaching methods.

(f) Write two objectives of District Primary Education Programmed.

Ans: The District Primary Education Program has two objectives: -

(i) Its objective was to provide uniform primary education.

(ii) Its objective was the education of girls and the physically handicapped.

(g) Mention two psycho-physical needs of infancy period.

Ans:- There are two psycho-physical needs of infancy:-

(i) Need for emotional security.

(ii) Satisfying security requirements.

(h) What do you mean by Downward Filtration Theory?

Ans: Downward filtration means educating the upper-class people. Then the upper-class people will provide education to the lower-class people.
