13. 'Warehousing is a very important auxiliary to trade.' Justify the statement by giving any three needs of warehousing. 3

Ans:- Warehousing is an important aid to business as it helps in facilitating the business. Warehousing provides storage facilities for goods. It helps businesses:

(i) Store the goods after their manufacture or production

(ii) To maintain steady supply of goods in the market

(iii) Maintain reasonable prices

(iv) Manage supply chains and optimize order fulfillment processes

(v) Improvement in productivity, customer satisfaction and profits

Warehousing is important as it helps in solving various difficulties involved in the process of trading. For example, storage can help with:

(i) Increase the shelf life of agricultural commodities

(ii) To increase the market base for agricultural commodities

(iii) To facilitate greater cargo handling at ports

(iv) To handle increased production capacity

(v) Keep the goods safe and maintain their quality until required

(vi) Other aids to business include: transportation, banking, insurance, advertising.

14. Briefly explain any two functions of wholesalers. 3

Ans:- Wholesalers perform many functions, including:

(i) Buying goods: Wholesalers buy goods in bulk from manufacturers. They often buy goods at cheap prices.

(ii) Storage of goods: Wholesalers store the goods in warehouses until they are sold. They maintain proper inventory of all the products.

(iii) Selling goods: Wholesalers sell goods to various retailers. They often sell goods on credit to retailers.

15. State any three reliefs which a Consumer Forum / Commission may order in favour of consumers. 3

Ans:- The Consumer Forum or Commission may order the following relief in favor of consumers:

(i) To remove defects in goods or services

(ii) Replace defective products with new products

(iii) Refund the price paid for the product

(iv) To compensate for the loss or injury suffered

(v) Awarding punitive compensation in appropriate circumstances

(vi) Pay adequate costs to the appropriate party

The Consumer Protection Act 1986 provides these reliefs to consumers.
