INTERCHANGE OF NEGATIVE & AFFIRMATIVE SENTENCES


1. None but Anita can do the sum. (to affirmative)   Exam paper - 2014

Ans: Only Anita can do it.

2. He left no plan untried (to affirmative)

Ans: He tried every plan.

3. Everybody must admit that Tendulkar is a great cricketer. (to negative)   Exam paper - 2014

Ans: None can deny that Tendulkar is a great cricketer.

4. Every problem has a solution. (to negative)

Ans: There is no problem without a solution.

5. I was doubtful if he would come. (to negative)

Ans: I was not doubtful that he would not come.

6. No sooner did he see me than he began to quarried. (to affirmative)     Exam paper - 2014

Ans: As soon as he saw me, he began to quarrel.

7. As soon as he went to bed, the fell asleep. (Rewrite in negative)

Ans: No sooner had he went to bed than he fell asleep.

8. I shall never forget you. (Change into affirmative)      Exam paper - 2014

Ans: I shall always remember you.

9. I shall never forget you. (Change into interrogative)      Exam paper - 2013

Ans: Can I ever forget you?

10. No sooner did he see me than he began to quarrel. (Change into affirmative)    Exam paper - 2015

Ans: We can use 'as soon as'. Thus, the sentence can be converted into 'As soon as he saw me, he started quarrelling'.

11. He tried all plans. (Change into negative)   Exam paper - 2015

Ans: He left no plan untried

12.  I shall never forget you. (Change into interrogative)      Exam paper - 2015

Ans: Shall I ever forget you?

Ans:- Nobody can deny that Tendulkar is a great cricketer.

Ans:- Who does not wish to be happy?

16. Only Ram was present there. (Make it negative without changing the meaning)  Exam paper - 2017

Ans:- None but Ram was present there.

17. You are richer than I. (Make it negative without changing the meaning)   Exam paper - 2018

Ans:- I am not richer than you.

18. There is no smoke without fire. (Make it affirmative without changing the meaning)   Exam paper - 2018

Ans:- Where there is fire, there is smoke.

19. I tried every plan. (Make it negative without changing the meaning)    Exam paper - 2019

Ans:- He left no plan untried.

20. It is often difficult to speak the truth. (Make it negative without changing the meaning) Exam paper - 2020

Ans: It is not often easy to speak the truth.
