(i) He is as intelligent as his brother.

Ans: His brother is not more intelligent than he.

(ii) Silver is not as valuable as gold.

Ans: Gold is more valuable than silver.

(iii) His son is as handsome as he.

Ans: His son is not more handsome than he.

(iv) Iron is not as heavy as gold.

Ans: Gold is heavier than iron.

 

SUPERLATIVE TO COMPARATIVE:

(i) Reena is the tallest girl in the class.

Ans: Reena is taller than any other girl in the class.

Or

No other girl in the class is taller than Reena.

(ii) America is the richest country in the world.

Ans: America is richer that any country in the world.

(iii) He is the best boy in the class.

Ans: No other boy in the class is better than he.

Or

He is better than any other boy in the class.

(iv) Everest is the highest mountain in the world.

Ans: The Everest is higher than any other mountain in the world.

(v) Iron is the most useful metal.

Ans: Iron is more useful than any other metal

(vi) The Ganga is the longest river in India.

Ans: The Ganga is longer than any other river in India.

(vii) London is the richest city in the world.

Ans: No other city in the world is richer than London.

Or

London is richer than any other city in the world.

(viii) Snow is whitest of all substance.

Ans: Snow is whiter than any other substance.

(ix) The dog is the most faithful animal.

Ans: The dog is more faithful than any other animal.

 

REMOVEL OF TOO:

(i) He is too poor purchase a new shirt.

Ans: He is so poor that he cannot purchase a new shirt.

(ii) He was too tired to go any farther.

Ans: He was so tired that he could not go any farther.

(iii) These mangoes are too cheap to be sweet.

Ans: These mangoes are so cheap that they cannot be sweet.

(iv) Nilu is so weak that he cannot move.

Ans: Nilu is too weak to move.

(v) This fact is too evident to require proof. (Rewrite using 'so.... that'.)

Ans: The fact is so evident that it does not require proof.

 

COMPLEX TO SIMPLE:

(i) I have no time that I can waste on idle talk.

Ans: I have no time to waste on idle talk.

(ii) Only those boys who are industrious can shine in life.

Ans: Only industrious boys can shine in life.

(iii) It is sure that he will help you.

Ans: Surely, he will help you.

(iv) We hope that better times will come.

Ans: We hope for better time to come.

(v) You are telling a story which is unbelievable.

Ans: You are telling an unbelievable story.

(vi) We should love those who live near us.

Ans: We should love our neighbours.
