AFFIRMATIVE TO NEGATIVE:

(i) Everyone will agree that he is a good boy.

Ans: No one can deny that he is a good boy.

(ii) He was absent yesterday

Ans: He was not present yesterday.

(iii) Every could ha a silver lining.

Ans: There is no cloud without a silver lining.

(iv) God alone can save me.

Ans: None but God can save me.

(v) I shall remember your kindness forever.

Ans: I shall never forget your kindness.

Or

Shall I ever forget your kindness?

(vi) Everybody has heard of Shakespeare.

Ans: Who has not heard of Shakespeare?

(vii) Everybody will agree that he is honest.

Ans: None can deny that he is honest.

(viii) Only the brave deserves the fair.

Ans: None but the brave deserves the fair.

(ix) He tried every plan.

Ans: He left no plan untried.

(x) Only John was present there.

Ans: None but John was present there.

(xi) Only Ram was present there.

Ans: None but Ram was present there.

Ans: Is he saw someone in the room?

(xxvii) Where in the world will you find a mountain peak higher than Everest? (Make it affirmative)

Ans: You will never find a mountain peak higher than Everest.

(xxviii) Everybody must admit that he is a good musician. (Make it negative)

Ans: Nobody can deny that he is a good musician.

(xxix) None but a rogue can act thus. (Make it affirmative)

ASSERTIVE TO INTERROGATIVE:

(i) I am older than you? (Add the proper Tag question to the statement)

(iii) I can never forget you.

Ans: Can I ever forget you.

(iv) Everybody wishes to be happy.

Ans: Doesn't everybody wish to be happy?

Or

Ans: Who will trust a liar?

(iv) I ask you to go to bed early and rise early.

Ans: Go to bed early and rise early.

Ans: Please help me.

 

ASSERTIVE TO EXCLAMATORY:

(i) He leads a most unhappy life.

Ans: What an unhappy life he leads!

(ii) I longed to see my sister.

Ans: How I longed to see my sister!

(iii) A little learning is a dangerous thing.

Ans: What a dangerous thing a little learning is!

(iv) The sight is really wonderful.

Ans: What a wonderful sight is!


SIMPLE TO COMPOUND:

(i) Coming home, he began to work.

Ans: He came home and began to work.

(ii) Having done his work, he left the place.

Ans: He did his work and left the place.

(iii) If you try you will succeed.

Ans: (You) try and then you will succeed.

(iv) Being tired he refused to go.

Ans: He was tired and refused to go.

Or

He refused to go, because, he was tired.

(v) If you do not take exercise, you will be ill. (This is not a simple sentence)

Ans: Take exercise and you will not be ill.

(vi) We can prove that the earth is round. (This is a complex sentence) 

Ans: The earth is round and we can prove that.

(vii) Having finished his work, he went home.

Ans: He finished his work and went home.

 

SIMPLE TO COMPLEX:

(i)  We must love our neighbours.

Ans: We must love those who live near us.

(ii)  I have no time to waste on idle talk.

Ans: I have no time that I can waste on idle take.

(iii) I have no money to spare.

Ans: I have no money that I can spare.

(iv) He wants me to go.

Ans: He wants that I should go.

(v) He is too lazy to shine in life.

Ans: He is so lazy that he cannot shine in life.

(vi) I am sure of my success.

Ans: I am sure that I shall succeed.

(vii) Because of his illness he could not appear in the examination.

Ans: As he was ill, he could not appear in the examination.

(viii) He worked hard to pass the examination.

Ans: He worked hard that he might pass the examination.

(ix) An honest man is respected by all.

Ans: A man who is honest is respected by all.

(x) He desired me to go there.

Ans: He desired that I should go there.

(xi) In spite of poverty he is happy.

Ans: Though poor he is happy.

(xii) My cousin, a journalist, wrote this article.

Ans: My cousin who is a journalist wrote this.

(xiii) I wish you to be quiet.

Ans: I wise that you will be quiet.

(xiv) Naren is sure of passing the examination.st

Ans: Naren is sure that he will pass the examination.

(xv) I could not attend college owing to my illness.

Ans: I could not attend college because I was ill.
